Date Night

Sonny and I had the funnest date night last night! Ironically, it was not with each other. I took Ryen on a "mommy date" and Sonny took Madelyn on a "daddy date". We decided to do that each month and alternate which of the girls goes with each of us. Sonny took Madelyn to dinner and then on a long walk with our dog Lily. They watched Clifford- Madelyn's favorite, and snuggled until Ryen and I got home. For our date, we went out to dinner (It is always Chick-Fil-A with Ryen!) and to see the new Shrek movie. There were a couple of parts there where Ry laughed so hard she snorted. What a funny little buddy I have! After the movie, everyone left really quickly, but Ryen and I stayed to dance. She ran up to the very front of the theater and just started to boogie down to "Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself Again"... which was fitting. Since no one was in the theater and it was our special date, I threw social protocal (and self-dignity) to the wind and joined her booty-shaking one-woman jamboree. Oy, the little guy in the projection booth must have gotten an eyeful. Afterwards, we went out for ice cream and called it a night. What a fun time!

  1. Where is the pic? That sounds so fun! We went to Shrek with my kids and they kept trying to escape every second the could! Poor Joel, I gave him the isle seat on purpose. He didn't get to see the end of the movie ( :

  2. That is such a cute idea for each of you to take the girls out by themselves. I have heard of a daddy date but not a mommy date. I can just picture Ryen getting her groove on!
