Ryen Rides

All year long, Ryen has begged us to let her ride the bus. It's funny how such small things seem like such a big deal to us when we are six. Riding the bus is a very big deal to Miss Ryen Olivia. So, because it means so much to her and because she only has a couple weeks of school left, we decided to let Ry ride the bus home. We were there waiting for her this afternoon and when that big yellow bus came towards us, all I could see was the top of Ryen's head. She bounded (literally BOUNDED) off the bus, just beaming from ear to ear. She looked so little and so grown up all at the same time.

*I snapped the second photo when we got home. This is Ryen's trademark fly-down-our-extremely-steep-driveway-squealing-while-mom-has-a-heart-attack move. Sigh.

  1. k how come elementary school kids always want to ride the bus... when you don't want them to. then in junior high you try to get them to and they're like "no way! forget it" well thats how i was anyway. the bus stinks! but when your six i guess it seems magical :) shes so darn cute. i love to see all the greenery in the background... something we seriously lack here.

  2. What a fabulous shot! Helena's really pumped about riding the bus to kindergarten next year...in fact, she wants school to start Monday. :)

  3. She is so cute. I understand the bus thing. Nerve racking for us parents when our kids are so small, but a joyous and grown up experience for the kiddos. Your street is beautiful. I am starting to realize that i am really going to miss the trees here.

  4. That is a gutsy move! The driveway thing. Okay, and the bus. I think riding the bus is one of the things Emma is looking forward to most. Funny, huh? For me, getting a ride to school in our car was a treat :)

  5. What a happy little chika!!! I love her so much. I use to want to ride the bus as well, but I always had to walk, darn it!

  6. Cutie pie pictures.

My kids all ride the bus this year, but next year they will ride TO but not home. They are all older now (minus Ava) and the 5th graders ride the bus with the high schoolers. I hate the ride home because kids are pumped up and quite simply naughty. I don't want my innocent Brycen subject to the HS/MS hijinks/bad words, so I'll be picking them all up next year. It will be a pain and my hubby thinks I'm a freak, but oh well :)

Now when they are younger, the bus is a treat! My kiddos loved it! Our preschool drivers were the *best*!!!
