Mom School

Who needs preschool when you can go to Mom School?  Instead of sending Ally to preschool this year, I opted to keep her home instead.  She plays with kids every weekday at my gym and every Sunday at church.  She's smart and confident and kind.  Maybe it was selfish of me to keep her home this final year, but I couldn't bear sending her off just yet.  We've been learning a letter each week as well as working on art projects and math and our favorite- adventure time!  We love putting on our rain boots and going for walks in the fields around our house.  We pack a blanket and books and sometimes a magnifying glass and set out to discover and enjoy anything and everything we can.  I'm not kidding in the least when I say I wouldn't trade these moments with her for all the gold in the universe.

We love going to the library and feeding the ducks...and geese...and seagulls...and swans.  They get seriously bold though!  I have had to rescue Ally from the ferocious feeding frenzy several times now- but she still always wants to go back so...

Another thing we love doing together is going out to lunch.  Ally loves the flatbread sandwiches at Target (that's my girl!) and the chicken burrito bowl at Chipotle so we usually alternate between the two.  We have so much fun just chatting about unicorns and every tiny little thing we discover.  This beautiful little princess has opened my eyes to rusty nails in a parking lot and worms on the sidewalk and birds in the trees that I swear I never would have seen before.  I'm sure she teaches me more than I teach her, but either way, we are having SO much fun!  With all of my mom heart, I cherish each moment we have together, she and I.

  1. I love the thought of the two of you! You are such a good teacher and Ally will remember these special times forever.
