Birthday Fever

I'm 32. That seems really old. I know it's not really really old, but it kinda feels that way. This year was probably the most mellow birthday I've ever had. I'm not sure anyone even remembered it. Heck, I barely remembered it myself! We had no plans whatsoever and then at the last minute I suggested we get a hotel room and just swim and hang out. We invited some friends of ours, but they were busy so we just took their two little girls with us...which our three little girls loved. It was a cute little birthday posse. :) Now that my birthday is over though, I am focusing on Ryen's birthday and even thinking ahead to Madelyn's and Ally's. It's so fun to throw their parties! I love it! Ryen asked for a carnival so a carnival she will have! Here are my inspiration boards for Ryen's birthday party this year:

I've already got her invitations planned out...and they are going to be so cool! I'll post one after I get them done, but I have to do a little photo shoot with Ry first. I've got the prizes for her guests, banners for the different booths, popcorn bags, a huge roll of tickets, and lots of other little goodies already. I'm going to ask for some help manning the different activities. I don't want to give the entire thing away, but Ryen is so excited and I am too!

Even though I know it's totally early, I'm also planning ahead for Ally and Madelyn. Maddie wants a "Wizzard of Oz" party. She loves that movie and loves to act it out- especially pretending she is Dorothy, of course. She could change her mind before then, but she seems pretty certain. (I'm going to have to get her some new ruby slippers because she has already outgrown two pairs!) Here are some visual notes for her Toto-ly awesome bash:

I'm going to tie in some rainbows here and there and I want to have some family members dress as other characters. I think it's going to be so fun!

Ally's 3rd birthday is going to have an alligator theme because her nickname is Allygator. We love the book "A Girl and Her Gator" so that gave me the color scheme and invitation idea. Here are my visuals for her party:

I even found this adorable dress on eBay with 3 sweet little alligators on it:
I know it's probably silly to be so excited about my children's birthdays. Normal parents probably aren't as excited over these things as their children are. But you know what? I fought harder to bring each of them into this family than I did for anything else in this world. Each of my daughters is a miracle to me and each year I get to spend as their mother is a blessing I don't take lightly. Their birthdays are the perfect time to show them that in my own Megan way.

  1. I love you! You are so inspiring! Lily wants a Justin Bieber party. I wish she was little again and I would totally use one of your ideas.

  2. Holy wow. Can I come? I'll man your booths for you! I'll dress up in a circus costume! And I've always wanted to be Glinda the good witch! And you have to be joking me about that dress. Only you would find that.

In short: I love you and I wish I could join in the girliness. Le sigh.
