Memorial Day

When we first moved into our home, there was a large flagpole in our front yard with a tattered and faded flag attached. We didn't feel right about that so we took it down until we could replace it with something more proper. Time passed and we put it on the back burner...until a few days ago. We went together to get a new flag and put it up as a family. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and Sonny and I did our best to teach our children about the blessings of being American. I feel so grateful for the sacrifices of those who have served and those who now serve our country. The fact of the matter is that they serve ME. They serve my husband and they serve my children. We did nothing to earn this other than being lucky enough to be born in the United States. It's pretty amazing when you stop and think about that...and I plan on stopping to think about that much more often.

We went to a church picnic today and it was so fun! It rained all morning and then stopped just long enough for us to have our picnic and then the rain came right back. Isn't that cool? It was a fun way to spend the afternoon.
