Ryen's Fairy Party

Ryen had a FAIRY great time at her party. :) She was so excited! Thank goodness my mom came to help me out or I don't think I could have pulled it off. There were so many things I would have done differently (better) but there just wasn't time. I mostly used things I already owned and just hauled them outside. I got a huge ladder and tied rope from one tree to another across a clearing Madelyn and I made in the woods right beside our driveway. In the middle of it, I hung one of those mosquito net canopies and then tacked the edges to nearby trees. From the hoop on the inside of the canopy, I hung a few tissue paper flowers. We placed two card tables and some folding wooden chairs on boards so they would be a bit more stable. I brought out our white coffee table to put food on and a small white round table for the drink. I made a few more tissue paper flowers and hung them and garlands of flowers on the pathway leading to the party area and around the area. I also tied ribbons around the trees just for the heck of it and called it good.

I snag cheap gold-colored plastic frames at thrift stores when I see them and used those to label the different party stations. When the girls first arrived, I showed them to the main table where I had a canister of silver glitter and a bottle of glitter hairspray ready for them. To say they got excited over this would be an understatement. They went WILD with the fairy dust!
Fairy food is a funny thing because fairies love sweets, but they also love their fruits and veggies. I had a whole table set up with jars and jars of sugary treats for the girls to munch on while they waited for dinner to be served. From pink marshmallows to gummy butterflies, there was everything a pixie could pine for. We served them fairy flowers (grilled cheese sandwiches in the shape of flowers) for dinner along with lots of fairy fruits. It was a hit!
Instead of a big birthday cake, I opted for tiny fairy cakes instead. For the activities, I hid 3 small fairies in the forest that the girls got to search for. Each fairy corresponded with a gift or activity. One gave them a fairy crown to decorate, one gave them each a pair of their very own fairy wings, and one had them search for the fairy tree where they made their own fairy houses. I had no idea how much they would get into these activities!
We ended by opening presents. Ryen gave each guest a fairy catcher ($1 butterfly net from Target) and a bottle of bubbles that had a note tied to it that said, "Thank you FAIRY much for POPPING over for my birthday party!"...or something like that. You can see the note I attached to the nets below. The girls also got to keep their wings and any fairy treasures (jewelry) they grabbed from the jars on the fairy food table.

All of the girls had such a magical time! It was really neat to see. Ryen was "in fairy heaven" and made some really wonderful memories with her friends.

  1. Megan to say you amaze me is an understatement. My girls would die for a party like this but it hurts my head to think of even starting to plan it. You are awesome! Shannon
